Panel 1:
Rico: Hey!  I was only out of the room for five minutes... where's my bladder-buster neon pixie-stix slush float?

Panel 2:
Cere: I drank it.  You should be thanking me.
Rico: ... And just why would I be doing that?

Panel 3:
Cere: I wasn't even a quarter of the way through it before I got a splitting headache.  Obviously that drink is dangerous.

Panel 4:
Rico: If you think the slushie is the only thing around here that's going to make your head hurt...
Cere: I had to eat nearly all of Rebound's popcorn just to get the taste of it out of my mouth.

Actually a little bit of both fission and fusion are needed... not going to get too far without iron in the blood, calcium in the bones, and other trace minerals as well.  ;)

Little bunny Foo Foo hopping through the forest, scooping up the field mice and bopping 'em on the head. KABOOM!  ;D

Ok, ok, was giving it some thought.  As I recall back when that was mentioned that was the general idea being given for anything that had a massive size/mass change, like werewolves and the Hulk.  Of course since then, people have tried calculating just how much energy would be sucked/emitted in the process and found it to be a bit extreme... so they suggest those get them through interdimensional links now.

That could work here.

The Cil are supposed to be aliens that can draw the energy from the air around them, manipulate atoms in the air around them to create objects, can manipulate themselves, but seem unable to convert solid material to energy directly... and are from an environment that is completely at odds with the main species in the comic.   To me that suggests maybe they developed on a gas giant where non-solid material and energy in the atmosphere are significantly higher... and severely limits their abilities in a relatively low density atmosphere.

So yeah... still going with biological nuclear fusion... and the hybrids inherited some of it.  After all, the Cil can do a lot, and they think it's a bad idea letting the hybrids run around unsupervised.

I'm thinking as such, there's probably a limit to how much energy they can draw at one point, but they don't use their abilities all the time, so they could gradually be absorbing energy and storing it in special glands that work like batteries... or pull a Parasite Eve with alien mitochondria that can generate an immense energy pulse to start the fusion and chain the energy after that...

And then there's pocket dimensions.  We've seen them in use... what if the hybrids at some point each subconsciously created one?   It wouldn't take one all that big to store the extra matter sheared off going from the largest form to the smallest, and with all the matter sitting within easy reach, the almost instantaneous switch back and forth would be possible, and probably easier for them on Earth with it than for the Cil who might not have a matter storage (if used to a matter-filled atmosphere) and have to accumulate matter first.

The Cyantian Chronicles GNIPs / Re: Siracs: Breathing while phasing

Well... it doesn't look like Quinn's ever holding her breath when popping through the walls, so I'm guessing they probably don't have to.  Going with that is I think it was described more as accessing inter-dimensional travel rather than the stepping between atoms some sci-fi uses, where the air is where they are rather than confined to what they carry with them.

I imagine in that way they could phase through water... though I don't think it's ever been mentioned just how long they can safely stay phased, which could limit how much underwater traveling they could do.

Yeah... space is probably too far... especially with how far you usually have to travel to get from one place to another out there.

Hey Mimi!  I heard your relatives were coming over for dinner.  :-*

We could invite a few of Prenna's over to your place too if you don't think the place will be full enough.

The Cyantian Chronicles GNIPs / Re: Genoworks experiment maturation process

I would suspect that those born outside the lab would have a slower incubation period since the female's body also has to adapt... and the fact they mention in EG about them growing faster in the artificial wombs than naturally born ones might go along with that.

Since the comic mentions they're all genetically engineered to rapidly mature to about two years within months, that would probably occur.

After that, since it sounds like some buyers would want them as kids, they might not automatically age faster, but perhaps have something genetically encoded waiting for a chemical trigger to activate rapid growth afterwards... which all the main characters have received by the time they're introduced. (With my thought being if there's an external trigger it's easier to find a way to interrupt it to stop it like the Akaelaes did once they noticed it was happening)

Giving a snort, "He did not bring an Acid Whip... those things are dangerous.  Puffer is of a much friendlier species than that."

Shyssa waved a hand dismissively, "And he's well trained enough not to eat Drat without permission."

"So what do you think?  I bet he could even give people a push with his tail if they'd like on that."

I didn't take it as them saying he's lucky it worked at all, but rather that he was lucky he happened to be wearing a suit with the capability to put up a heavy duty safety field at the time of the stomp-squishy.  :P

Prenna sidled up to Frost, grinning as she glanced between Frost and the newborn.  Quietly so as to not disturb the others, "I know that look... there's a cub in your plans for the future now."

"Mimi!  There you are!"  With a small wave, the Jiliac hopped over towards the group.  "Guess what?  One of the Elders came for a visit!"

Bouncing on her toes, she continued,  "And he brought one of his... oh, what's the word, security personnel?  with him.  Only thing is they don't think it's a good idea to let him wander the halls, and they liked even less letting him stay in our room when the Elder is busy, so we were thinking of maybe letting him roost in the park.  Do you know if there's any strong structure around here that would work as a perch?"

Pausing, Shyssa takes a small hop back as if seeing the swings for the first time, "Say... how strong is that?  That might be big enough..."

I think it's possible... if both are willing.

Might not really come up much though, since their numbers are so few that they rarely come across each other, and they put so much effort into keeping others' thoughts out they might not casually let others in to have a random thought conversation.

Been ok... just kind of distracted lately.

And it occurs to me we forgot that April 1 was the next scheduled week advance... and we should probably do it since it hasn't advanced since last year April.  :P

Are you referring to the medieval paradigm Eboreg?  If so, saw it, but didn't really have much to say on it.   Quite possible they kept with medieval approach to warfare... also possible it's more fun to draw in that manner than people in enclosed spaces pushing a button.  Part of me seems to remember it being mentioned Syrys was standing out in the open playing target because he was the decoy while the real forces snuck in for the rescue (as well as morale).
