Hello everyone,

I've decided to start this thread as a way to highlight and recommended other webcomics that we've enjoyed to each other. All I ask is that each post made be dedicated to a single webcomic, so that the focus is on that webcomic only. Also, please warn of violent content and other NSFW content.

That way, we don't end up with a dozen posts that recommend a half dozen comics each. And I think we can all agree that all of Tiff's comics are already on the list of recommended comics, as this IS her comic forum.

EDIT: Any webcomic is welcome. They can be from any genre and they don't have to be furry webcomics to be included. END EDIT.

I'll start the show by recommending Az the Wox' comic "Wulf Mountain".

Wulf Mountain is a tale of a society of "wulfs", which are white furred anthropomorphic wolves who live in a single mountain during winter. We get to peek into the lives of some of these wolves while also finding out about how their society functions to seeing how Carvingclaw, one of the most eligible bachelorettes in the mountain, deals with an influx of suitors who think that gifts are the only way to a woman's heart.

Each of the characters is unique and interesting in personality and character design. Also, Az had made an effort to make sure that all of the characters are unique in body type and size to offset the fact that all characters are white furred wolves.

The art is, honestly, basic and simple. It's done with copic markers and ink. And while it's not the best of art, Az is working on improving as he goes along and you can see the progression from beginning to the current updates.

The subject matter of the various stories is mostly clean and only mildly violent. For the most part, there's not much worse than a head clonking or two. Although I would be remiss if I didn't warn everyone that the story has a few dark points. One involves the mercy killing of a wulf caught by a hunted beast, and another concerns the fate of a wulf who killed his own daughter because she had a withered arm and thought her a burden to the pack.

So, no. Az is not afraid to take his comic into darker issues. However, he tends to not dwell there as I've seen other comics do. Such scenes are rare and not the norm.

Also, there has been some nudity during a tribal dance to salute the deities of the Wulf tribe. But, there's nothing pornographic or gratuitous.

Currently, Az is managing several pages a week at the minimum. Each part of the story is divided into chapters and smaller stories withing each chapter. The First Chapter is about 45 pages with each section within ranging from 4 to 12 pages at the longest.

Personally, I find Wulf Mountain to be a lot of fun, with a number of unexpected twists that have kept me and other readers guessing. I wouldn't be posting it here if I didn't recommend it.

Do they have to be anthro/furry in nature?

I really enjoy Dr. McNinja. A seemingly ordinary medical professional, the doctor investigates strange maladies (Paul Bunyanism- patients turn into giant lumberjacks), bizarre occurrences (zombie outbreaks, world-destroying Aztec islands), and fights all sorts of wonky adversaries (a cyborg ninja nemesis, raptor-riding banditos, Dracula, pirates). Always interesting, funny, and well-written. High-quality all around.

Ink By Snowaro

Ink is the story of life making its way in a lifeless world. The art style is very beautiful and unique, with some finishing touches that aren't always noticed immediately. The story is interesting and told as much in the art itself as it is in dialog. And the characters are both serious and funny (and sometimes cute), depending on the situation.

There is some violence in the form of hunting creatures eating smaller critters, although, it is both as graphic as it sounds and not as graphic because of the art style.

It's only 13 pages long as of this post, and pages are coming out at approximately one every other day. The author has also stated that it is a short story that will be under 50 pages.

Ink is a bit of creativity and fun that I recommend reading.

Everblue by Michael Sexton

Story and art scream mainstream manga quality (and the latter portion is in color!) but it's only recently it's started making it to the top of the Top Webcomics list.  The story, so far, focuses on a woman named Luna - a loner and skilled boat designer/builder in a floating city.  Ten seems to be some crazy eccentric roaming the wide ocean (so far, it seems as if the world is made of water, but there's not enough information yet to know for sure).  You could likely consider it in the same nautical vein as One Piece, but there is a definite sci fi element hiding under the surface.

Updates are fairly regular but spread kind of far apart.  At the moment things are at a dramatic head so it's a good time to catch and be part of the epic.  Not really much violence or things to watch out for (at least not until recently) but I would definitely call it PG.

Read that too.  Pretty good, and violent, but the updating is REALLY sparse with zero schedule to speak of so it's really only worth it to follow Akreon or the other partner on dA to get updates fed to you.

Thistil Mistil Kistil by Sarah Schanze

As some of you know, I'm a Viking/Hiberno-norse/Anglo-Saxon/Pre-1066 nut so TMK's creative, stylized, and approachable but thoroughly accurate take to a comic'd Norse Saga is on the level of cream cheese and sliced bread.  Our protagonist, Coal, starts out, of all things, dead.   But luckily the kid got stuck with an interesting little artifact so Odin sends him back out into the world as an Einherjar to help gather all the missing pieces of the god's weapons.

Dealing with death and rituals pertaining to it and the many and sundry sordid affairs the gods themselves are tied up in in norse mythology, I would call this PG13 simply for the sake of innuendo and being historically accurate to some degree (Christian/Pagan relations of the time are brought up, and given that her TC vote incentives lately have been of an arab kid who will be coming in as a character soon, Christian/Pagan/Muslim stuff will likely come up).  But despite that, it's still a fairly clean comic with only one panel I can remember having blood, and Stubbles being a crude ass to Hedda in another.

Definitely worth a look, even if you know nothing about the Vikings (in that case, read the blog posts that go with each comic, some times she explains things and cites finds/research she's done to justify some of her choices).

Kaspall.

"Welcome to Kaspall."

Kaspall is about a city that's made up of all different types of races. From rabbit people to dragons and humans and some we can't even identify yet. If you're an offworlder who arrives there one day, you can never go home. They don't know how to send you back. But they'll provide some education and a place to stay.

Oh, and there's an ongoing murder investigation going on too. People are dying in locked rooms and the police have to find out why.

Kaspall is really good. The story is mysterious and engaging, the characters are unique, interesting, fun and more. And both fortunately and unfortunately, the author is finishing it soon. So while there is an archive for it, there's only a bit more before the story wraps up.

Still, I do recommend it. Otherwise, I wouldn't post it here.

Roomies should probably get a mention here as well.  After all, it did have some unofficial crossovers with Campus Safari   

Though inactive for a while, it looks like he's toying with the idea of starting it again, so remember, though your characters may be able to fix spacecraft, do complex computer engineering, or be involved in advanced robotics, nobody knows how to fix a toaster

Unfortunately, yes. Although Flinters does have a new comic, Scavengers. It's about a recovery/scavenger ship and its crew.

I'll nominate The Class Menagerie Classic as a good webcomic to read. It is, quite literally, the first webcomic I read.

One gem I've found is a comic done by a German couple called Sandra & Woo.

It centers on the everyday life of a young preteen girl (Sandra) and her pet raccoon (Woo).  Other major characters include her friends, Cloud, the son of an American and a Burmese refugee (and a darn good swordsman), as well as the chaotic pyromaniac Larissa, who is capable of all sorts of madness.  Woo has befriended a fox (Shadow) and his best friend Sid, a European squirrel who managed to make it to the states, as well as his love interest, a female raccoon named Lilly.

The comic is a mix of short stories and single shot strips.  The story arcs have a mix of action, character development, and humor.  It occasionally has adult material, but is usually fairly tame content-wise.

Some of the strips (like the Tweety Bird incident) are classics, and the humor is almost always spot on and original.

Oookay, you had me very confused for a moment there, but unless they didn't bother to update the about pages, they didn't marry in the meantime, and Powree is still living half a world away from Germany.

And yes, it's quite a fun comic.

Hmm. I found two webcomics and read both archives today, but I'll only mention one today:

Evon:

A Bear Sorceress, a Warrior Rat, and one hell of a journey!

It's a very interesting comic structured mostly around the interaction between the mercenary, Herodotus Dent, and the young sorceress, Evon. Well, their interactions, and the people who are after them, as Evon has a few secrets and a more she doesn't know.

EDIT: Be warned, there's violence and nudity. The violence remains consistently (and realistically) fatal, while the incidences of nudity taper off for the most part.
