Quote: "Well, I wasn’t really trying that hard, but it did turn out pretty great didn't it."
How much experience do you have with role-playing? How much time have you spent on MUSHs/MUXs/etc.?  A few years table-top and been here since '06 with Toast, Soida, Tejaswi, and Fejin.

What is your character's personality?  Sreik is a laid back, positively inclined, and talkative wolfess.  The only thing that may keep her from being classified as outgoing is that she prefers to keep her activities to a small group of close friends, except when it comes to hunting an attractive male.  She tends to look on the brighter and funnier side of things, but can get serious when need be.  She likes to tease her friends some times but tends to try and keep humor to the non-personal side of life.  Sriek could also be classified as something of a caretaker, as she likes to help and improve people when she can.  She operates by something of a Cyantian-style Hindu philosophy on life that she picked up during her travels as a teenager.
What things does s/he like?  Sriek obviously enjoys music, but more than that the subtly of the sentient voice: human, cyantian, or anything else.  And in line with that, word play and wit (although she may not always participate, she likes to listen).  More superficially, she likes precious metals and jewels, especially when they make noise.  Also, incense and carrots cooked with a roast.
Dislike?  Careless and self-centered tail chasers, as well as those who try and argue musician isn’t a legitimate career choice when they have very little understanding of the workings of the industry and try to use examples of people whose failures can be explained through other means.  Also the "grunge" look, over powering sweet scents (such as liberally applied vanilla), and she has an allergy to apples and chocolate.
What are the strong points of your character?  She is exceptionally talented AND capable of explaining how others can be too, unlike some teachers.  Patience and empathy are also her strong suits, allowing her to easily work with the more frustrated or lazy students.
Weak points?  She has very... expensive tastes, and a some what flaky sense on justifying purchases.  Sriek has been in heavy debt more than once.  She also tends to go through boyfriends like paper towels.  It's not that she doesn't care for them as people with feelings, just that she either can't make a long term relationship work or more often than not she's just not in the mood for anything but something fun, exciting, and possibly steamy.
Name one thing your character would never do and why.  Crush some one's dream, or try to prevent the achievement of it.  While she certainly will give someone a reality check if they need it, she won't stand in any one's way while they're trying to reach what makes them happy.
How does s/he interact with others?  Sriek is personable, friendly, and sometimes flirtatious when it suits her (ie, when there's a hot wolf around).  When met with a short tempered or grumpy person, she is polite and tries to work out the situation usually to decent success; but she has found her limits with a particularly nasty person once and just shut her mouth and walked away and refused to even acknowledge the person existed for the rest of the day.
What are their abilities, hobbies, things they're good at?  Obviously, she's a good singer (what else would she be a teacher for :P).  From her many years of shopping, she has a connoisseur's eye for many things and can easily tell fakes from the real deal.  She has a decent enough knowledge of the piano to be an accomplished performer, but isn’t very capable in any instruments outside of that.
MENTION if they carry some sort of weapon.  There is a 13 inch dagger her father gave her a long time ago that she keeps in her apartment, but it usually doesn’t leave it’s wrapping in her underwear drawer.

Give an example description of your character.   Sriek is a lovely, well toned, well groomed wolfess of red and golden-blonde that stands at 7'9".  Since childhood she's kept her golden hair very long; although it's at it's longest yet while at Mars, reaching down to her calves.  Most of her is red, but her face is covered in a heart shaped marking of gold that trails down her neck and then out again across her chest.  The tips of her fingers are gold, and the bottom of her feet with mottled pink and black pads.  Her eyes are dark amber with thick brown lashes.  If she comes out the door in the morning without more than six pieces of jewelry on, you can be sure there is something wrong.  She's always decked out in something, usually matching sets she's gotten her hands on, or commissioned, and usually bells and hand pounded coins are featured to add a little music to her walk.  Her clothes tend to be something figure-accentuating and sexy, even while she works but she does stay modestly covered while teaching.

What qualities or traits does your character have that would be useful to the Mars Academy currently, or in the future when it becomes a colony? This includes skills, and for those that would need to apply, qualifications.  She has experience in the music business and could switch over to that industry if she so chose when Mars becomes an independent and less controlled economy.  Being a teacher she's obviously passing on knowledge, and being a speech therapist she's obviously bettering the lives of some individuals.
Why does your character want to be at the Academy rather than at another Academy, or some other location?  Originally it was a new frontier and an exciting place to go, but Sriek mainly stays now because she’s made a life and a home here and doesn’t really feel like going any where else.
What goals does your character have for the future?  Be happy and prosperous in whatever form life brings her.

What is your characters nature and thoughts on others of his/her species?  The majority of her species tend to be somewhat... unaccepting of deviations and differences.  While she admires the Akaelaes for everything they've done for those who are in need whether they are different or not, she doesn’t see the rest of the population in the same way.  Either way, she still tries to look at them in the same light as everyone else.
What is his or her view on other species?  Everyone has some sort of good in them.  It’s very rare that there is someone totally evil.  Even when there is, or when someone has very few of those redeeming qualities, karma will take care of everything in the end.

Please answer the following in a couple paragraphs: What is your character's history? Who is or was your characters family? What were the important events of your characters past? What kind of life did they have before they arrived at the academy?  Sriek was born as an only child to a middle class pair of wolves and started out life in a very unassuming way.  Her mother Meanna, a psychologist, always sang to her as a child despite her lack of training or talent (she saw it as very important to her development).  Her father Korion, a banker, was an amateur drummer in a band of friends that never really played any where but every other weekend held practice in their home.  He also taught an accelerated math course during summers at a technical academy.
Sriek started out normally enough, but her mother enrolled her in several advanced day camps one summer when she was five so that she could find her interest early on.  Originally, it was sports, math, leadership, and cooking that occupied her time, but a fortuitous accident pushed her into music and performance.  Her mother was held over late with a patient and her father was stranded at work because of a rare public transit crash.  The counselors took care of her when it was clear her parents were late, and she ended up staying over to the afternoon groups.  The children were several years older than her, but a few of them happily let her play with them and she had her first experience in a choir.  While she didn’t get to stay late again that summer, a councilor took note of how quickly she caught on to music and kept her in mind.
The next summer, the councilor recognized her, and managed to convince her mother that music could also be good for public speaking and curbing shyness and that she should enroll Sriek in her group.  More people took notice of the lovely voiced child, including a professional that came as a guest one afternoon.  He managed to play on Meanna's thoughts of a well balanced person having a good hobby that starts with special experiences in childhood. He took Sriek on as a private student and began honing her raw talent.  After a little over a year of after school lessons, he got her a part in a musical. It was a little more than a bit part, nothing special, but it was a part where she would sing alone for a little bit.  Both of her parents were thrilled at this special opportunity she could cherish as an adult, but slowly became less and less thrilled as more and more directors sought Sriek out for child parts in their musicals or operas.  Korion was more supportive than Meanna who thought of music as a fun hobby but not as a realistic career that could last your whole life.  However, the large check Sriek had gotten out of the first three productions was significant, and they decided that letting her be a little bit of a child star wouldn’t hurt as long as she put the same amount of effort into school work.  Besides, Meanna was a psychologist and could keep her child level if the pressure started getting too great.
Sriek started training as an opera soprano, but soon had to readjust as her natural range dropped with age.  She moved up through bit parts to supporting roles and then into her first major role at the age of 13.  She also sang at a few sporting events and a few concerts, making her a decently known name in the community.  The rest of her time was spent on school work, and she made decent grades and honor rolls.  Her biggest musical break, and her greatest struggle with her parents, came when she was 15 and was cast as the tragic heroin in a very famous and very popular modern opera that was set to tour Cyantia after it had completed its run at the Centralis Opera House.  This crossed the line for both Korion and Meanna, and it took lots of coaxing from Teleph, an older male singer and actor who had come to be one of Sriek's best friends.  He eventually convinced them, with many promises and even signing a contract that he would be her legal guardian for the duration of the production and tour, and he also got the director and producers to bring on some of the best teachers for Sriek and the other under aged actors during the school years they would be away.  On this tour is where many of her aesthetic tastes, spending habits, and religious ideas were formed.  Fame and fortune was great, but she saw that not every one shared her luck and success, and luck and success slowly turned into gossip, backstabbing, drugs, and betrayal.
Toward the end of the tour, her understudy started spreading rumors that there was going to be a movie adaptation and that she had been offered the part instead of Sriek because she was going to be shorter than Teleph by the time filming came around, where as Sriek had hit a late growth spurt and was already having to redo choreography to keep the illusion of a small wolf.  Sriek started asking questions and no one would give any answers, in fact one of the producers tried to offer her a different movie deal to get her to shut up so tabloids and other unreputable news organizations wouldn’t start spreading false rumors.  Teleph stayed quiet and even avoided Sriek, not sure himself what was going on and not wanting to appear that he was lying to her at any point.  She took it as a sign that he knew and was turning his back on her.  On the way back to Centralis she finally found out it was all a lie, although there were movie negotiations happening.  When the lead role actually was offered to Sriek, she shocked the entertainment industry by walking away.  While she still loved singing, playing, and acting, she refused to be part of a group of people that would only drag her down and break her soul over time.
Because of how schooling worked on tour, she came out ahead of others her age with excellent grades and went straight from the lime light to the library light in a top academy, earning degrees in Voice Performance, Linguistics with a focus on Articulatory Phonetics, and Speech-Language Pathology.  It would take her a few extra years to get all of those, but she passed with flying colors and only performed occasionally on weekends to supplement the money her father had put in a savings account from her first jobs.  Looking to get away from her parents, who still mostly disapproved of her path in life and had fought her initial efforts to be deemed independent as a teenager, she moved to a teaching job in Mounty lands, and then eventually to Mars.  Being so far away, and her religion gnawing at her, she would eventually make partial peace with her mother (she had already done so with her father part way through the academy).

If you're applying for a character that's been at the academy a while, what's happened to them at the academy? How have they spent their time here?
Taught, flirted, partied, performed, made friends, and done good in the world.
