No they aren't (well, some of your girlfriends might have been, frost, but that's another story ), but the origin of them all is more or less the same.

But I'd draw a line there.  There's the mythological witch, who is generally evil and in someway sold off part of their existence to have their powers - which is not at all an exclusively Christian-dominated thing, plenty of cultures have/had good and evil witches/wizards and usually the evil ones had died and come back or removed their soul or something make them less human - and then there's the religious "witch" who is simply a practitioner of their magical beliefs.

Part of me automatically thinks taser+skunk would lead to a less happy Yanoi... especially if she's standing downwind
