The Hall of Study

A fennec could be found within the dusty confines of the library, datapad in hand, studiously making adjustments to a diagram while seated at a table. She wore long, dark pants and a matching long sleeved shirt, though it was rather lightweight. As stylus met tablet, the diagram of some sort of electrical component was altered, supposedly for the better. The little fox with big ears had sought the library out because of its isolated location, not for its resources. The choice had been wise, for it was indeed rather quiet, if not lonely. But this suited the fennec just fine. She glanced over an attractive pair of glasses at her surroundings before returning to her work.

Two tables away was a rather large buck rabbit with a white chin, and paws, legs curled up in one of the library chairs, an old hard-bound book in his hands.  He was wearing a dark blue robe with red stripes down the front, and silver piping.  A little ball of fluff and feathers was seated in his lap, and churring very softly and contentedly as he teased the feathers on her neck.

Of course, the appearance of this rabbit foretold the coming of DOOM of peace by something the color of a robin's egg, and wings and talons...  or maybe not...  or maybe so... but at the moment the Rabbit was reading.

Yanoi's big ears twitched at the sound of churring, and she peeked up from her datapad and spotted the fluffball. Her expression softened and her mouth opened, not bothering to check for permission with her brain before stating, "Aww..." Yanoi's eyes widened as she realized her thoughts had come out aloud, and she covered her mouth, looking around nervously to make sure she hadn't been caught in the act.

The light-grey rabbit blinked as the combination of sound and motion penetrated, and looked up from his book, and over to the Vulpine, and smiled at her.

Sensing a change in her fleshy seat, the guardian griphon chick blinked a bit, and looked up at him, then looked around, trying to find out what made the large fuzzy grey one move.

Meanwhile, Robin Goodfellow, a well known Puck of an Acid Whip, meanwhile, was flitting up one isle, and down another, occasionally stopping to land, and look at something.  This time, the thing looked at was a fuzzy with very large ears.  .oO(Rabbit?  Wrong face and teeth.  Hmmm.)

The Robin's egg blue acid whip kept low to the top of the book-case, glancing between the two large-eared Cyantians below and before him.

Seeing that she had been caught, Yanoi blushed tremendously beneath her fur, her ears going backward as she gave a sheepish grin. She was unaware of the approaching doom that beheld her big-eared fuzziness. She did, however, continue adoring the bundle of fluff and feathers in the rabbit's lap. Now thoroughly distracted from her project, she wandered over and attempted an awkward greeting. "Um, hi. I guess you caught me looking at your griffin. I have to say, that's just the most adorable thing I've seen all day." She offered a more genuine smile.

Ishmael looks up to her as she comes over and then grins.  "Well thank you.  I'm sure Twilight is glad to hear that, aren't you Twilight?" He asks the ball of fluff in his lap with a happy voice.

Twilight blinks between the two there, mrring.  Ish seems happy though, so she gives a happy gryphon grin, and chirup to the new-comer.

Ish smiles up at the Fennec.  His own ears are, as usual, folded back over his head, framing his ponytail to either side.  The scar on his cheek is evident from the lack of fur on it, but not huge, or being presented in particular.  "And it's not exactly a crime that needs catching or anything.  Would you like to give he a treat?  I have a few with me."

Yanoi's ears perked up. "A treat? Sure I'd love to give her one." The little fox noted the scar, but did not look at it for long, and said nothing about it. She had scars of her own, and knew not everyone liked to talk about them. Her left hand unconsciously began drifting toward her other arm, but she diverted it toward the griffin chick.

Ishmael nods, and folds the book, putting it on the table.  It's a hard bound copy of "Moby Dick."

Once the book has been set aside, he reaches into thin air, and then holds out a small bit of jerky to Yanoi.  "Here.  For Twilight.  Hold it in your palm, and keep your hand flat when you give it to her."

Yanoi accepted the treat and held it out as instructed. "So, that's a Terran book, isn't it?" She kept her eyes mainly on the griffin chick, but had inspected the book briefly when it was set down.

Ishmael nods, and smiles.  "Yes.  One of my old favorites, though it was translated to Cyantian most of the times I've read it in the past."

Twilight grins, and leans forward, sniffing at the treat, getting reeeady... and then nips it up and starts chewing on it enthusiastically.

Puck, meanwhile, decides this is a good time, and sails down through the air to land on Ish's shoulder.  Ish grins at him, and moves a finger to rub at the underside of the whip's jaw.  "Oh, I see how it is.  Food comes out, and so do you."

Yanoi gave a quiet little giggle at the griffin chick's behavior, then started slightly and blinked in surprise at the arrival of the whip. "You're rather popular, I see. Do you have any more pets I should be aware of?" She smirked.

Ish smiles up at her, and shakes his head.  "No, though there are some pets here and there that like me." He says with a grin.  "This is Robin Goodfellow, by the way, a very merry Puck.  As for me, call me Ishmael."  He says, cracking a grin.

Yanoi nodded thoughtfully. "I suppose I could see why. It's nice to meet you, Ishmael. I'm Yanoi Lacroix." She gave a slight nod. "I haven't met a lot of rabbits, yet. I have to admit, I'm rather curious about you."

[Josh the Aspie]

'Nice to meet you miss LaCroix."  Ish says by way of introduction, and offers her his hand.  "I'd get up for a more formal introduction, but I'd rather not disturb Twilight too much."

After her comment on her curiosity, Ish blinks, and mmms, one of his ears twitching slightly.  "Well, sorry to say, I probably am not the best rabbit to ask about rabbits.  Part of the reason I came to the Academy was to learn more about my kind myself.  I was raised by mounties, you see."

Yanoi's ears perked at the comment about mounties. "That's interesting. I'll admit, I spend a good deal of time in their company, as well. Though our paths crossed due to some unfortunate events, I've grown quite close to my new family." She smiled. "Just don't tell them that. I've got a reputation to maintain." She gave a sly smirk and wink.
